Company Overview

Powder Intelligence is a university spin-off startup
from Gifu Pharmaceutical University, leveraging expertise in pharmaceutics
and powder engineering to drive the development of novel formulations
and materials across the pharmaceutical, cosmetics, and food industries.

Philosophy

Solution by Powder Science

Powder behavior is a complex system governed by numerous interrelated factors—particle size,
shape, surface properties, specific surface area, moisture,
electrostatic charge, and even manufacturing history.
By integrating powder science with data analytics, Powder Intelligence provides
scientifically grounded solutions to challenges in powder processing.

Services

Whatever the Powder, We have the Solution.

If your challenge involves powder, we are ready to help.
We are not limited to any specific measurement methodology. From fundamental
JIS-based testing to advanced rheological analysis—and even the development
of custom evaluation systems tailored to your manufacturing line—we leverage
every possible approach to derive the optimal solution for your powder processes.

1. Consulting & Integrated Solutions

Our experts in pharmaceutical manufacturing, powder engineering, and data science provide end-to-end support—from R&D to troubleshooting in production.

  • Root cause analysis (troubleshooting)
  • Raw material selection and equivalence evaluation
Physicochemical comparison and risk assessment when changing suppliers or materials
  • Materials informatics support
Utilizing the proprietary powder property database and expertise of Gifu Pharmaceutical University, we support the integration and analysis of your internal experimental data

2. Development & Prototyping of Powder Process Equipment

“If it doesn’t exist, we create it.”
We translate research needs into practical solutions.

  • Development of analytical instruments for pharmaceutical powders
Designing novel systems to capture critical variables not measurable with conventional equipment
  • Process improvement and prototype development
Design and fabrication of custom units and fixtures to solve specific manufacturing issues (e.g., adhesion, poor flowability)
  • Next-generation formulation process technologies
Supporting equipment development for emerging technologies such as powder-based additive manufacturing (3D printing)

3. Interpretation & Re-evaluation of Powder Property Data

We do not simply measure—we derive the correct answer for manufacturing from your data.

  • Fundamental Properties & Morphological Analysis
Accurate characterization of powders as solid materials
    • Particle size distribution
    • Particle morphology (SEM)
    • Specific surface area
    • True density
    • Dynamic vapor sorption (DVS)
  • Compression & Mechanical Properties
Understanding the causes of tableting failures such as poor compaction and cracking
    • Compression behavior analysis (e.g., Heckel analysis)
    • Granule and single-particle strength measurement
    • Tableting tests and tablet property evaluation
  • Flowability, Adhesion & Powder Rheology
From hopper blockage to filling and mixing behavior—understanding how powders move
